Program Background

In recent years, the philosophy of Sagarika Samaj Unnayan Sangstha has undergone a major change in order to make the poverty alleviation program sustainable.  Sagarika's operational structure is continuously enriched through various innovations to create an enabling environment, provide the necessary support for human and financial development, and establish the human dignity of every individual. In this context, as part of the multi-dimensional program to eradicate poverty, the organization has adopted a new program called the Quality of Life Improvement Program for Elderly People in solidarity with the National Elderly Policy 2013. As a result of the program's implementation, the elderly population will get various facilities at the union level, thereby improving their quality of life.

Program Area and Beneficiary Details

 No. 8 Char Elahi Union under Companyganj Upazila of Noakhali District has 7581 households and 1815 seniors and No. 6 Aman Ullah Union has 5891 households and 1421 seniors in Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali District. The total number of households in the two unions is 13,472, and the total number of elders is 3,236.

The aim of the program

 Improve the quality of life of the elderly population.

Objectives of the program

 Establishment of social centers for the elderly, provision of old age allowances, special savings, pension schemes, awarding of senior citizens and best children serving the elderly, special loan facilities and training for poor senior citizens, provision of essential health services, training of para-physio therapists. , Social benefits for senior citizens. We hope that the implementation of the activities will bring about a great change in the senior population of the Union.
